Analysis of China‘s Export to the EU of CBAM Aluminum Products in 2023. 

This article analyzes the situation of China’s export to the EU of CBAM aluminum products in 2023 as follows:

I. General Situation

China‘s exports of CBAM aluminum products to the EU covered all goods under Chapter 76, except for 7602 and 7615. 

The EU CBAM aluminum product customs codes correspond to product descriptions as shown in Table 1.

In 2023, China's total exports of CBAM aluminum products to the EU amounted to 689,000 tons,

 a 30% decline compared to the previous year, accounting for 8.7% of the corresponding product’s total global exports. 

The total export value was 22.76 billion yuan, a 26% decrease from the previous year, representing 10.3% of 

the corresponding product’s total global export value. The quantity and value of China’s exports of CBAM aluminum

 products to the EU for the years 2022 and 2023 are shown in Table 2.

II. Export Details by Product

In 2023, China’s top five customs codes for CBAM aluminum product exports to the EU were 7610, 7616, 7606, 7607, and 7604. 

The export volumes were 24.5 thousand tons, 12.0 thousand tons, 11.4 thousand tons, 8.6

 thousand tons, and 5.7 thousand tons, respectively. These accounted for 35.6%, 17.4%, 16.5%, 12.5%, and 8.3% of the exports to 

the EU CBAM aluminum products, with a combined proportion of 90.3%, indicating a

III. Export Situation by Country

In 2023, China exported CBAM aluminum products to all 27 EU countries. Among them, the top five export destinations were Germany, Italy, France, Poland, and the 

Netherlands, with export volumes of 115,000 tons, 81,000 tons, 81,000 tons, 77,000 tons, and 77,000 tons, respectively. These accounted for 16.7%, 11.8%, 11.8%, 11.2%, 

and 11.2% of the total export volume to the EU, with a combined share of 62.7%, indicating a high concentration. Detailed statistics of China’s export volumes and values

 of CBAM aluminum products to the EU by country for 2023 can be found in Tables 5 and 6.

Exports from China to the top five destinations of Germany, Italy, France, Poland, and the Netherlands were also concentrated in specific products, with category 7606,

 7610, and 7616 products accounting for 68%, 67%, 90%, 68%, and 67% of the total export volume of CBAM aluminum products to each respective country.
